Reading, with cat.
.

.
It’s cute, but not always easy.
And speaking of cats…
.

.
I’m wearing my fair share of battle armor myself and should probably eat healthier.
And speaking of eating healthier, I found this recipe…
.

.
A good for you snack.
And speaking of that…
.

.
I never knew this.
.

.
And am glad I’ve only ever fed our squirrels raw nuts.
.

.
And speaking of squirrels…
.

.
They’ve been driving His Lordship crazy.
.

.
Knowing he can’t reach them…
.

.
They’ve been mercilessly cavorting on our deck providing hours of free kitty entertainment… as well as frustration.

We give our squirrels unsalted peanuts. They also eat bits of the various seeds and feeds we put out for the birds. We’ve only rarely seen them nibble on carrot pieces, and when I toss out bits of apple, they look at me like I’m crazy. Other critters love the apples, but I’ve seen squirrels pick them up and toss them back on the ground.

Our Red B*tch will eat apples, but the greys walk right by.

I give the corvids unsalted cashews for similar reasons. But they are much smarter than squirrels and will avoid salt. Maybe I should post this information on my neighbor’s front door–they feed the squirrels peanuts constantly.

I didn’t know the danger, maybe they don’t either.

His Lordship certainly has a lot of streaming options to choose from.

With the price of fresh zucchini it’s more economical for me to buy frozen zucchini fries – I love zucchini – I turned my Boston Irish meat & potatoes husband into a zucchini/eggplant loving IBM (Italian By Marriage) – another reason his family disliked me.
Didn’t know that about peanuts & squirrels. Good to know.

I like zucchini but can only tolerate eggplant if it’s fried and covered in sauce and cheese.

There are half a dozen or so black walnut trees in our yard. No hungry squirrels here. The gnaw away the husk, leaving a black mess that stains everything it touches, and take pleasure in throwing the soil out of the plants on our front porch to hide away nuts they have gathered. Sadly they will forget all about them.

Black walnuts?
Lucky squirrels!

Good for squirrels, bad for cars. The green ones are hard as a pawnbroker’s heart and they fall like rain once they get going. They’re fun to hit with a golf club, gotta say.

I swear, there are few things parmesan doesn’t make better. I’d try the zucchini sticks in a heartbeat.

Your cat gave me memories of my Olive. She loved to sit at the sliding glass door and whack the quail through the glass. They’d peck at her. I managed to get a few good videos.

I don’t really care what my husband feeds the squirrels along as they keep away the rats – which seems to be happening.

Squirrels are really just rats with bushy tails, so why do we like one and hate the other?

I love it when parents read to their cats.
The squirrels have been stealing roasted but unsalted peanuts from my crows. I feel a little better about it, knowing they aren’t good for them. But since salt is bad for the crows, I won’t switch to salted.

I made a stab at healthier eating today, too. I roasted 5 kinds of veggies – bell peppers, cauliflower, carrots, turnip, and broccoli – in the oven, then made a quick cannellini bean dip. That was dinner!
