A snow covered Lord.

.

Since we’ve been having a warm winter and so little snow, Lord Dudley Mountcatten has been enjoying stretching his legs outside. And after a particularly warm spell where I took him for walkies everyday, he’s been antsy for exercise.

Even when it starts to snow.

.

.

Crying and scratching at the door, he talked the husband into harnessing him up and heading out.

.

.

But then? He had second thoughts.

Snow is cold, and more importantly… wet.

.

.

Which is why he hightailed it to the shelter of the woodshed and left the husband out in the storm. Cats are a lot of things, but stupid isn’t one of them.

When the husband had enough and tugged him back out into uncovered territory?

.

.

His Royal Highness beat feet for the back door.

.

.

And assumed the position for a warm rub down and toweling off.

🤣

.

Buy your cat a fish.

.

I’ve been known to spend a fortune on unappreciated cat toys to amuse our four footed furry family members.

.

.

Some they like, some are banished to the drawer never to be batted again.

And then…

I bought a fish.

.

.

Which Lord Dudley Mountcatten has given his Royal stamp of approval.

.

.

He flings his fish all over the living room and happily chases it down.

.

.

And while he usually rejects toys that move, shake, spin or make any type of noise, he’s made an exception for this motion activated catnip fish that flaps.

.

.

You’ll have to trust me when I say he was going crazy for it, because in true cat fashion he stopped playing as soon as I started filming.

.

.

Buy your cat a fish.

Tell them Lord Dudley sent you…

.

Walkies!

.

A warm day in mid February meant His Royal Highness finally got to go outside again.

.

.

Being a fair weather feline who dislikes getting his feet wet…

.

.

Lord Dudley works hard to avoid the snow.

.

.

Bare earth is something to be savored.

.

.

And rolled in.

.

.

Homage was paid to his favorite rock.

.

.

I swear I don’t know what his obsession is with that stone, but he rubs and rolls all over it every single time.

.

Let’s play.

.

You’ve been waiting all week for this. Admit it.

.

.

The only thing on my bedside table is a clock. The reason for this?

.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten… who has the endearing habit of jumping up there early in the morning to announce it’s time for the Royal breakfast to be served.

Reading glasses and book? Swatted to the floor.

iPhone and earbuds? Pushed off the edge.

Hand cream? Batted to the floor and chased under the bed.

So…

A digital clock from Sharper Image that resets itself for daylight savings time and automatically finds the correct time if the power goes off. It’s small.. but a little too heavy for his lordship to fling off the nightstand.

What about you?

What’s on your nightstand…

.

Because sometimes life is simply too much to bear.

.

We all have those days.

The ones where we want to stay in our pajamas, crawl back into bed and turn off the world.

Apparently Lord Dudley Mountcatten has them as well.

.

.

It’s not as if this feline has a rough life.

.

.

Did the level on his kibble bowl run low?

Were his treats not dispensed at the proper time?

Perhaps his pillow was not properly fluffed.

.

.

Whatever the reason, he’s clearly reached his limit.

😉

.

Miscellaneous drivel.

.

Let’s start with the required weekly photo of Lord Dudley Mountcatten.

.

.

Say what you will about cats, the creatures know how to relax.

.

.

This marketing strategy seemed a bit extreme for fresh water from the Alps. Death isn’t normally what I look for when buying natural spring water… but to each their own.

.

.

The husband had been sputtering about a hot air popper for a while now, so I broke down and bought him one. Aside from breaking the top cover on the second go around, it looks like he hasn’t quite mastered the proper kernel to bowl ratio yet either….

.

.

A tent for office naps? I fail to see how this won’t be noticed by management.

.

.

As we began, so shall we end.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten, looking less than pleased with the photographer.

.

We call it ripping.

.

Or rippin’ for short.

I’ve heard people call it the zoomies, but I can’t quite wrap my tongue around that.

Whatever the nomenclature, it’s when your pet goes spastic and starts tearing around the house like a whirling dervish. For Lord Dudley Mountcatten it happens every evening around 7:00. He starts to twitch, gets a wild look in his eye and he’s off. Sprinting across the living room, down the hall, bouncing off a wall to the second hall, up and over the bed, across the top of a chair, back down the halls, through the kitchen, ending under the dining room table with a toy.

.

.

Last night it was the blue feathered whale and as you can see, he was having a grand old time.

.

.

Wish I was that limber.

.

.

I’m not sure why he has a fascination with furniture legs…

.

.

But when he’s in rippin’ mode he always wraps around them to play.

.

.

Cats.

They be crazy.

.

Snow much for that.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten’s idea of playing in the snow usually looks like this:

.

.

But after the first small dump of the season last week the husband took his highness out for a winter stroll.

.

.

But as much as Dudley loves the fresh air and being outside, cold feet is not his thing.

.

.

So he found the one bare patch of stone wall…

.

.

Loved on his favorite rock….

.

.

And carefully avoiding as much snow as he could, made his way back inside.

.

.

Lord Mountcatten is a fair weather feline and was pleased when all the snow melted the next day.
