Random thoughts.

Climate change. Pollution. Drought. Shrinking natural resources. Deforestation.

Healthy living my ass. Keep your kale and quinoa, Keith will survive nuclear winter.

Sigh. If only I had a few million to spare.

I actually have not so fond memories of this place. Oh, it was beautiful and swank… but it also happened to be the day I realized I’d become allergic to lobster. I ate it for lunch and by the time we stopped here with friends for a drink in the evening? I ordered a margarita, took one sip and spent half an hour in the ladies room throwing up. Good times.

Not.

Say it isn’t so!

A flight we did at a veteran owned brewery called Stars and Stripes. Appropriate, no?

Keith.

You know he’ll be here even after the cockroaches are extinct.

Odd products.

Because sometimes you have to look twice.

To me, this looks like strips of wet, tie dyed paper and as such… not the least bit appetizing.

Oh, it’s a healthy vegetable?

Well that explains it.

I’ll try it as soon as I finish my pile of kale.

Hundreds of customers are rarely wrong, but while I like a good massage as much as the next girl?

I’m not using something that looks like my great grandfather’s ballsack.

Just…. no.

This last product isn’t necessarily odd, but it did make me wonder.

Have I been using nail polish made from rendered beef fat all these years?

CSA Week 3 and 4… because I forgot and you probably don’t care anyway.

Our half share of the 3rd CSA from our neighbor was a lovely assortment.

Swiss chard, white radishes, green leaf lettuce, carrots, mesclun mix, spinach, cucumber, basil and ….

What I thought was parsley.

But turned out to be chervil. If nothing else, I’m learning a lot about green things this summer.

With those fresh ingredients, it was spinach salad with apples, radish, mushroom and purple onion for dinner.

Yes, I like a little parm on top as well.

A bright berry mixed green salad was dinner the next night.

Week 4 saw the family we split with out of town, so we received the entire share.

And that’s a big bag of veg.

Zucchini, turnip, cucumber, mustard greens, parsley, carrots, mesclun mix, parsnip, spinach, lemon basil, butterhead lettuce and cilantro.

Not being fennel fans, we passed that and the dreaded cilantro off to a friend.

But ooh la la!

Fresh aromatic lemon basil meant from scratch marinade…

For delicious grilled chicken breasts that night.
