What the flock?

.

Birds.

You never know who’ll show up.

.

.

Turkeys on Thanksgiving Day? That takes balls.

.

.

They’re even pushing the envelope by ripping up every scrap of weed block landscaping paper I laid under our tree.

.

.

And blue jays.

.

IMG_3595

.

All of a sudden, a large flock of blue jays.

.

IMG_3596

.

There were blue jays everywhere.

.

.

And the greedy little devils wiped out four feeders in no time flat.

.

.

Birds.

Sometimes annoying, but always photo worthy.

.

.

Holy crap!

Yes.

I’m literally going to talk about crap…. and you’re going to wonder why you ever started following me in the first place.

Piles of crap have suddenly begun showing up on our front lawn.

Same spot, by the kitchen door, every morning, totaling 4 piles.

Sorry, I can’t.

Weird as it sounds, we’ve lived here for 18 years and have never had a dog leave a deposit. Ever!

It’s too big for woodchuck or fox. And it’s not skunk. They leave a trail of small black poo nuggets on the driveway.

We have started seeing raccoons late at night, and they do make the rounds.

But I’m thinking coyotes might be setting us up as a rural rest stop.

So if any of my readers are expert scat identifiers?

Now would be the time to weigh in.

*Poop Update –  since writing this the other day.

The count is up to 5 piles, and since it rained…. closer examination of contents was possible.

(Still with me? You really are loyal readers!)

Seeds.

I think we can safely rule out coyote now.

Alvin’s evil twin.

Chipmunks….

Everyone thinks they’re cute.

Me?

Not so much.

If you think they’re cute, you haven’t met Ervin.

Alvin’s evil twin.

IMG_8745

He taunts me daily.

Digging into my mulch and planting stolen sunflower seeds in every available garden bed.

IMG_0390

He sleeps on the deck furniture..

IMG_0956

And is positively psychotic… staring in at me from the deck.

IMG_1126

And then launching himself in mid air to slam into the window.

Repeatedly.

He’s even made it into the house on occasion.

002

But now…

IMG_0948

He’s discovered the plant pots.

How do I know?

IMG_0950

Aside from the scattered dirt on the table?

IMG_0952

Busted!

The little bastard is now digging and planting seeds in all my potted geraniums, begonias and petunias.

How do I know?

IMG_5355

The large sprouting sunflower leaves are a dead giveaway.

Cute? My ass.

Look at those teeth!

He’s probably plotting to chew off my toe in my sleep if he ever gets back in the house.
