Let’s play.

.

Because it’s 2024 and I’m still here.

.

.

I could take a world view and hope for an end to the war in Ukraine and peace in the Middle East.

Or I could take a national view and hope for sanity to return to politics and an end to the partisan and cultural divide in this country.

But I’m going to take a smaller, closer to home view and hope for the continued health of my (still thinks he’s 20) husband. Many of my blog friends are experiencing the grief of loss or catastrophic illness of a spouse or loved one and it makes me realize how truly blessed I still am. I may moan and groan about his crap collecting and his inability to enjoy retirement, but I have him.

And he has me.

That’s everything.

But maybe… just maybe?

I’ll hope for better luck with our home improvement projects as well.

I think I’m due for some of that.

🥴

How about you…

What are you hoping for this year?

.

Hope springs eternal.

.

Yes, the husband bought another tarp in anticipation of another rain storm.

.

.

And yes, he decided to put it on the roof on a windy day.

.

.

What a good idea that was.

.

.

Was I helping?

Yes.

.

.

Was I also laughing my *ss off and photographing the endeavor?

.

.

Of course.

.

.

At least this tarp is heavier and smaller so it doesn’t hang over the side and flap in the breeze like the last one.

Will it stay on the roof during a storm? Doubtful, but not for lack of trying on the husband’s part.

Required shot of our backyard with the paltry amount of winter snow taken from the top of my ladder.

.

Just call him Johnny Appleseed.

Hope springs eternal, at least for my husband when it comes to trees.

The three oaks he transplanted a while ago croaked and had to be dug up.

So when we were in the middle of a drought and a heat wave?

He figured that would be a great time for us to plant 10 apple trees.

Holes were dug in ground that felt like cement.

And I had to run the bucket brigade again.

Because naturally he wanted to plant them at the far ends of our property.

But I did find some wild raspberries.

And blackberries.

It took us all damned day.

But trees were planted.

The heat was intense and I told him this was the wrong time of year to plant.

But you know how that went.

Will he water and fertilize and care for these new transplants in this mid summer heat wave?

Hell no.

Say goodbye trees, you’re doomed.
