News you can’t use.

.

Or maybe you can. I don’t judge, just laugh.

.

.

Not having any idea of what a FODMAP diet consists, I looked it up.

Fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols.

Doesn’t that sound tasty?

.

.

Good God, I hope not. Better start a ‘bail River out of jail’ account pronto.

.

.

This isn’t really news per se, but I saw it… and now I can’t I unsee it.

.

.

First it was Florida and their stinky miles of seaweed, now it’s Texas.

.

.

These stories make me glad I don’t live near a beach.

.

A day of antiquing … part 1.

.

It was a beautiful clear, cool day and I wanted to take a drive along the coast. So of course we went antique shopping instead.

And were greeted by some very pricey little green men at our first stop.

.

.

$950 per seemed a tad high to me. But you have to admit they’d spark more conversation than that coffee table book about the Renaissance.

.

.

This first store was overloaded with crap. And my husband dove right in.

Disagree with my crap description? Think the store was actually filled with treasure?

.

.

There was a stack of cardboard rose boxes for floral delivery. All empty.

Treasure me that.

.

.

Chairs?

There were a few.

.

.

The only thing I liked was this Grateful Dead 40 year anniversary poster but the hubs wouldn’t let me hang it in the man cave so there it stayed.

Did he leave the store empty handed?

Please.

.

.

He bought this old wagon wheel jack (left) and placed it next to his other old wagon wheel jack (right) in the barn.

If only we had a wagon….

.

Plants and pickles.

.

It’s finally time to start planting some annuals around Casa River. It’s really only safe after Memorial Day as we had frosty nights right up until the end of May.

.

.

A few geraniums.

.

.

Some peachy begonias on the kitchen porch.

.

.

A line of alternating marigolds.

.

.

And it was back to the greenhouse for another trunkful. One can never have too many flowers.

My husband disagrees, but what does he know?

.

.

A pizza. With pickles. And pickle flavored potato chips. Christ, it might as well have kale.

🤢

.

.

I always thought I was one of those people who said – I’ll eat anything as long as it’s covered in chocolate.

Turns out I was wrong.

.

Miscellaneous drivel.

.

Remember those $50 blueberry bushes we bought at the nursery?

Turns out they had the same ones at the grocery store for $25.

.

.

The husband couldn’t resist.

.

.

There are days when I prefer to soak myself in alcohol, but apples and watermelons work too.

.

.

I passed on the meatloaf mountain. Bread and potatoes? That’s a bit much.

.

.

Here’s the Junior chuck, just chillin’ on the deck landing.

.

.

Probably still full from all those flowers he devoured.

😖

.

Foxy lady.

.

Mr. Fox brought his significant other last night for a nosh.

.

.

See the stalks by the fox on the left? Husband found some wild asparagus in the field and thought the woodchucks would eat it. Sadly, they prefer my flowers and didn’t touch it.

.

.

We love our foxes.

.

.

They’re such graceful, beautiful creatures.

.

.

If only they’d develop a taste for red squirrel.

.

.

Surely they have hungry pups who need a snack.

.

.

😉

.

Let’s play.

.

Come on.

You know you want to….

.

.

I have to be honest here and say I can’t think of one.

I was one of those weird kids who loved to turn out the lights and watch horror flicks. Alone, in the dark.

Nothing freaked me out. Nothing scared me. I never thought there were boogie men under my bed or monsters in my closet.

I was the kid who laughed when Linda Blair’s head started spinning in the Exorcist.

I happily went swimming after seeing Jaws.

The mad slasher films of the 80’s? Pfft. They made me laugh .

If forced to choose one, I guess I’d have to say the old Rosemary’s Baby. It didn’t scare me per se… but i remember it being creepy and atmospheric.

.

.

How about you.

What movie scared the bejesus out of your childish self?

.

The bitch has moved back in!

.

The husband had to move my car, set up the ladder and climb into the garage crawl space to reach the leftover vinyl siding recently.

When he got up there? A surprise.

.

.

There was a suspicious hole in the siding box.

.

.

And nesting material strewn around the opening.

.

.

See all the insulation and stuffing to the left?, in between the rungs of the ladder?

.

.

You know what means.

🐿

.

It’s planting time!

.

The frost danger has probably but who the hell knows because it’s Maine passed and now it’s time to fill that beautiful raised stone bed my husband built last year.

.

.

My first trip to the nursery made me realize another trip is in order. Such a hardship.

.

.

But look at our little crabapple tree.

.

.

Finally in full bloom.

.

.

So far… this is what will be living in the garden.

.

.

I realized I chose too much pink and purple so the next trip will be for peach, red and maybe white to round it out.

.
