Not a dolphin in sight.

.

The husband and I drove out to Harpswell recently to have dinner at Dolphin Marina.

.

.

It’s a beautiful spot.

.

.

And well off the beaten path.

.

.

A working marina.

.

.

With a nice restaurant at its tip.

.

.

One disappointing summer sangria in…

( I told the bartender it was tasteless, he told me a lot of people were saying that. Then for heavens sake, why are you serving it!)

.

.

My crab cakes were fab.

.

.

Husband went with a cup of lobster bisque which was rich, heavenly and crammed with lobster.

It was also served in a coffee cup and cost $28. Gulp.

.

.

The fog was rolling in…

.

.

Which made for an eerie light.

.

.

The watermelon mint spritz? Much better.

.

.

My pan seared Parmesan haddock was lovely.

.

.

As was my husband’s lobster pasta.

.

.

Too full for dessert after enjoying the homemade blueberry muffins that come with every meal…

.

.

We headed home.

.

.

Enjoying the views along the way.

.

More woodchuck deck antics.

.

Our little chucklets really love the back deck.

.

.

And when I hear them scrambling across it I have to sit back and watch.

.

.

It’s like their private playground.

.

.

Tag, hide and seek…

.

.

The grill cover is fun to duck under.

.

.

The railings?

.

.

A perfect back yard viewing platform.

.

.

Did I mention Lord Dudley Mountcatten enjoys watching them too?

.

.

Even when he has to duck under a blind to do it.

🤣

.

Random nonsense.

.

My real life friends are very helpful. Knowing I’ve been looking for coffee and end tables, one of them sent me this…

.

.

And while I’m sure His Lordship would love it?

No.

.

.

This is a church I pass every now and then while running errands.

They have a sense of humor.

.

.

Or try to…

.

.

Now that’s what I call a backyard rainbow.

.

.

This is what $150 worth of handmade gourmet candy looks like. We thought it would be a nice way to say thank you to the nursing and surgical staff for being so kind to an antsy (and sometimes unintentionally violent) patient.

*Note- I wanted to give them a healthy and attractive Edible Arrangement filled with fruit… but the damn stores have closed up shop and left the state of Maine.

Boo to that.

.

The eyes have it.

.

The time had come.

.

.

Thankfully not for me, I can’t even put eye drops in my eyes….but sadly for my husband. If you remember, he tried to have the out patient cataract surgery late last year but was unable, due to what was basically a panic attack.

Not much bothers my husband, he’s pretty fearless. But he’s also rather tightly wound when it comes to retaining personal control. The out patient surgery meant being awake and strapped down to prevent movement. That didn’t go well (at all! The drugs they gave to calm him down spiked his blood pressure and ratcheted up his anxiety so high the doctor cancelled the surgery)

So we ended up here last week.

.

.

The hospital, where they threw a johnny over his clothes and knocked his ass out. And because he doesn’t deal well with being woozy and coming out from under anesthesia (the control thing again)….

.

.

They put me in the recovery room to await his return and calm him down.

Did I mention he once punched a nurse, knocking her out cold when waking up after knee surgery? That was before we were married … I make sure to warn hospital staff now.

Anyway, the operation went well.

Not that you’d know it by his face upon returning home.

.

.

He had a good bit of pressure and pain the first day but the eye drop regimen should lessen that.

.

.

Week one, which is actually 8 days… 3 eyedrops 4 times a day… total = 96 drops.

Weeks two, three and four…. 2 eyedrops 4 times a day… total = 168 drops.

Weeks five and six…. 1 eyedrop 4 times a day.. total = 56 drops.

.

.

320 drops.

Wish me luck keeping him on that schedule, not to mention making him respect the no heavy lifting or strenuous activities for 7-10 days order.

🥴

.

Random nonsense

.

I get these attaboys from WP every once in a while…

.

.

And it always amazes me I’ve managed to come up with that much drivel. Think how interesting this blog would be if I actually wrote about something worthwhile.

.

.

We saw the boot in downtown Freeport the other day but my husband turned a corner before I could get a picture.. so here’s a stock photo. Yes, it really exists. A giant mobile boot that travels around the country promoting L.L. Beans. Talk about the perfect job.

.

.

I’ll never take the time to make this, but I think you should and report back. It sounds lovely.

.

.

My husband is after me to buy a new car. But Ethel, my beloved loaded 2014 Subaru Forester, is just getting warmed up with 77,777 miles.

😊

Next up, the reason I will never have dementia.

.

.

I read a book every two days. So according to the author of this study my broken down body will retain a mind sharp enough to catalog the decline.

Yay.

I think….

.

.

Admit it, you’d eat those.

😉

.

Gardening woes.

.

It’s bad enough I have to battle baby woodchucks stripping my flower gardens bare.

.

.

They’re adorable, but it’s very hard to make them stop nibbling.

.

.

I heard shredding Irish Spring around the plants helps, so I’m all in.

.

.

My other problem this year?

.

.

A mouse.

Who beheaded all my lovely marigolds and dragged the blooms under our shed.

.

.

I didn’t even have a chance to photograph the pretty alternating yellow and orange combination before all I was left with was this…

.

.

Because as soon as the mouse ripped off all the blooms?

The chucks ate 3/4’s of the leaves.

But I fixed them.

.

.

I planted a row of taller crown daisies and no one likes those.

😉
