If Lord Dudley Mountcatten wasn’t absolutely terrified of dogs, I’d be planning a weekend getaway here.
.

.
How wonderful is that?
.

.
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.
.

.
I do.
I really do.
❤️

Red squirrel annihilation training began the other day and I have to say…
It did not go well.
.

.
After a few half hearted swats,
.

.
Lord Dudley Mountcatten made friends.
.

.
And in true I’m not doing what you want because I’m a cat fashion…
.

.
The beast actually stared out the window at the real red squirrel …
.

.
With a stuffed red squirrel facsimile on his head.
Sigh.
.
.
During a recent walk with the husband, Lord Dudley Mountcatten spotted my arch enemy.
.

.
Brazen as could be, Momma Red wasn’t disturbed by his presence and stayed in the feeder happily munching seed.
.

.
His Highness stalked and crept closer.
.

.
But she knew he was inexperienced and bided her time.
.

.
Until he was literally right underneath her and she dove over him to reach the safety of the woodshed… where she sat on a high log and chattered at him.
The bitch was laughing, I know it.
Needless to say I was extremely disappointed with His Lordship’s technique …. and purchased a training tool forthwith.
.

.
Okay, technically it’s a flying squirrel. But the size and color are close enough to stand in for that furry red demon for some close quarter combat drills.
Training begins tomorrow.
.
.
Lord Dudley Mountcatten is a delicate flower. He doesn’t do rain, snow. loud noises, dogs or strange people entering his house. He’s scared of the UPS driver, the vacuum and the ironing board. Drop a book on the floor and you won’t see him for hours.
Wind? Yeah, he doesn’t like that either.
Which is why I had to share this clip of him exiting the house for his walk in 40 mph gusts.
.
.
Where did he run?
Up on the deck where he cried to be let in the back door.
A very delicate flower indeed.
🌸
.
.
Just a few photos of His Lordship doing what His Lordship does best.
.

.
In other words, nothing.
.

.
He excels at this task. And as we all know, practice makes perfect.
.

.
Though he has been known to hide from the paparazzi .
.

.
Cat life.
It’s rough.
.
.
Because all I can manage today is a few photos of Lord Dudley Mountcatten.
.

.
Who doesn’t understand why his humans are so sad.
.

.
Not that it disturbs his naps.
.

.
Oh, to be a cat and sleep 18 hours a day.
.

.
❤️
.
.

.
The only state that beats us is Alaska, but since I’m still experiencing the hot flashes from Hell? That’s fine by me.
.

.
The photo in which Lord Dudley Mountcatten discovers the old woodchuck burrow.
.

.
And naturally does a deep dive investigation.
.

.
Me.
Because I realized I haven’t posted a selfie in a while and I have nothing better to share today.
.
.
One minute you’re happily sitting in the living room reading a book.
The next?
.

.
Your cat jumps up on the footstool and decides to put on a show. When you ask him if that’s really necessary?
.

.
He says yes.
.

.
But thankfully moves from his privates to his feet.
.

.
Cats.
There’s never a dull moment.
.
.
Cats. They’re marvelous creatures who definitely know how to relax.
.

.
And Lord Dudley Mountcatten takes full advantage of his spoiled and pampered life of leisure.
.

.
He’s also the reason all the legs of our coffee table end in scratch marks …
.

.
His fascination with wrapping himself around them is strange.
.

.
But also too damned cute to stop.
❣️
.
.
With many thanks to shinegrace214 who tracked down Lord Dudley Mountcatten’s elusive scratching post… I ordered it and now have one very happy cat.
I swear he knew what it was the minute I brought it in the house because he was positively pawing at the box in anticipation.
.

.
After following these highly technical instructions…
.

.
I brought it in the living room as replacement for the much loved predecessor.
.

.
The second I put it on the floor? His Highness pounced.
.

.
He scratched, he rubbed, he drooled with delight.
.

.
I topped the post with his little blue whale for added entertainment and sheer bliss followed.
.

.
The internet can be a wonderful thing.
Thanks again shinegrace214! You made this little guy’s day.
Week.
Month… etc.
