Cow!

.

.

Mister Cow is happy in his new home and growing rapidly.

.

.

Billions returns for its final season this weekend. Axe is back… and I’m totally on board.

👍

.

.

Pineapple margarita, just because.

.

.

The baby chucks don’t look much like babies anymore.

.

.

It’s getting harder to distinguish momma from the group.

.

.

I performed a minor miracle last week and dragged my husband to the movie theater. This happens approximately once a year, so I have to choose carefully. And since I’m a history nerd? It wasn’t Barbie we went to see.

.

.

When His Lordship is determined to look outside, no mere blind will stop him.

🤣

.

Lord Dudley does not approve.

.

We’ve been having a lot of hot summer weather lately and with that comes late afternoon thunderstorms. With late afternoon thunderstorms comes high winds. With high winds comes the possibility of power outages… and that’s what happened recently just as I was sitting down to read. Not wanting to give up my book, I grabbed a large battery operated lantern and propped it up behind me on the couch.

.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten was not pleased.

.

.

Something new and strange had been added to his world.

.

.

And had to be thoroughly investigated.

.

.

After a full five minutes of stalking, sniffing and batting…

.

.

His Lordship made peace with the temporary lighting device.

.

In which His Lordship finally walks on the driveway.

.

Though we have not yet driven on our beautiful new driveway, we are walking on it.

Or rather, we humans are walking on it. Lord Dudley Mountcatten remains skeptical.

.

.

Taking him out for a walk has meant strolling around the house on the grass and then watching him plant himself on the kitchen landing.

.

.

Where he sits and stares.

Until yesterday…

.

.

When he finally decided to investigate.

.

.

Momma chuck was watching from the barn porch…

.

.

As his Royal highness took to the tar.

.

.

Not yet a fan of the new black expanse, His Lordship returned to the backyard and his favorite woodchuck burrow.

.

.

This is a tunnel that runs under our bedroom bay window and I wish I was quicker with the camera because a baby chuck stuck his head out, spotted Dudley and let out a true whistle pig screech.

.

.

As far as kitty entertainment goes, squealing woodchuck beats new driveway any old day.

.

News you can’t use.

.

The fact that you can’t use it is what makes it worth reading.

.

.

I think canine love is in direct proportion to the biscuit level of a Milkbone box.

Full box? Adoration

Box almost empty? Derision.

.

.

Is it? This almost makes me afraid to open the pantry door.

(In case you’re wondering? It’s coffee. )

.

.

Of course it was, it’s Florida.

.

.

And let’s face it, that beats Ron DeSantis any day of the week and twice on Sunday’s.

.

.

To be honest, I’d prefer to talk with the donkey.

.

Cat sitting.

.

I’ve been cat sitting for our neighbors this week.

.

.

They live one door over and down behind us near the river. They’re also the neighbors who had their driveway redone the same time we did. It’s an absolute joy to ride down there now.

.

.

Pia greets me at the door upon arrival. She never used to, but has come realize I am the bringer of food when mom is away… so I am tolerated now.

.

.

And even allowed to pet her on occasion.

.

.

As long as the food bowls remain full that is.

.

.

Should I be worried?

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten has been staring at the living room heat vent.

.

.

I mean, for hours at a time.

.

.

And it’s beginning to freak me out.

.

.

I can’t see anything.

I can’t hear anything.

And even after removing the vent and poking around inside I didn’t see or hear anything.

.

.

And yet…

.

.

Every single day, there he is.

.

.

Waiting for something… *gulp, someone?*…. to rise from the depths.

.

.

If only he could talk….

.

And we’re climbing.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten was on the move the other day and headed right for his favorite pear tree.

.

.

Please note His Lordship is actually airborne in the next photo.

.

.

As usual, once His Lordship achieved tree grip…

.

.

He was clueless about the next step and simply hung there.

.

.

For quite a while as it turns out.

.

.

But finally, he ascended.

.

.

And posed nicely for the photographer.

.

.

What to do once he’s up there or how to get down proves a bit more difficult.

.

.

Driveway repair part four, the flood and another tree climbed. Sort of…

.

We woke up to the remains of an overnight downpour.

.

.

When having your driveway repaired, excess water is not welcome.

.

.

There were two extremely large puddles wreaking havoc with all that new oh so damned expensive dirt.

.

.

And while the birds and the visiting ducks liked their new muddy bath…

.

.

I was less than thrilled.

.

.

Naturally His Royal Highness wanted to investigate.

.

.

He’s such a timid little guy I thought the big equipment would frighten him, but he’s more afraid of the workers than the machines.

.

.

Growing bored with the earth movers he ran up the choke cherry tree before I had a chance to stop him.

.

.

The desire is there, but the skills are still lacking.

😉

.

Random nonsense

.

Why is it every time I clean the windows?

.

.

A drive by birding. It’s like they wait for the Windex…

.

.

Yes. That is actually the McDonalds in Freeport, Maine.

.

.

Another reason I love my state.

.

.

Do not try to remove His Lordship’s catnip. There will be consequences… and most likely, blood.

.

.

Rain. The husband’s car. And a woodchuck staying dry.

Enough said.

.

.

Rain means rainbows.

.

.

And we’ve certainly had our share lately.

❤️
