A new look.

.

The Barn Mahal has undergone many transformations in recent years… from crap filled storage building to man cave extraordinaire being but one.

.

.

And along the way…. the porch my husband didn’t want, the one he bitched about building but now loves because yes, I am always right…. has changed looks as well. When the siding was untouched natural wood?

.

.

The old barn red furniture cushions were fine. But when the barn turned red?

.

.

The cushion color needed to change as well. And if you remember… chipmunks, red squirrels, woodchucks and birds helped make the decision to recover a bit easier.

.

.

So off to the seamstress they went… because no. River don’t sew.

.

.

I’m quite pleased with how they turned out. And am hoping the critters give me at least a year or two before they tear these to shreds.

🥴

.

I blamed the wrong critter.

.

Ever since we painted the barn/man cave the perfect shade of red, I’ve been sputtering about recovering the porch furniture because now… it clashes.

.

.

I recently bought some color coordinated fabric and found a local woman who’s going to do the job.

.

.

Me… sew? Yeah, that’s not happening. So while I was waiting for the seamstress to tell me she was done with prom and wedding dress alterations, I saw this:

.

.

WTH?

.

.

The edges of all the cushions had been shredded!

I ranted, I blamed woodchucks. I cursed, I blamed mice. I sputtered, I blamed chipmunks. But guess what?

.

.

The real culprit..

.

.

Was a bird looking for nesting material.

Mother Nature. She has all manner of ways to drive you crazy.

.

Well done ladies.

.

In the continuing series Why does River keep posting this nonsense? I bring you the final squares of the centennial quilt.

.

.

No it hasn’t taken 100 years to complete, it’s just the time span being celebrated by our little town.

.

.

Does your town have yurts?

.

.

Mine does.

.

.

Hats off to creative women.

.

.

And their needles.

.

.

And now, what you’ve all been waiting for… ( or waiting to be over. Either way, you win) .. the completed quilt!

.

.

And may I just say, bravo.

This will hang proudly in our town hall so all can enjoy the fabric wrought history.

.

A bridge too far.

It’s bad enough my husband stops at every yard sale he sees.

It’s bad enough he comes home from the dump with more than he went with.

It’s bad enough he built a giant barn and filled it with useless stuff before it was completed.

But what happened the other day?

Is a bridge too far.

We woke up, had a lovely breakfast, went outside and saw something on the barn porch. I didn’t think it was a good something…

But the husband dragged it inside before it could run away.

Yeah.

Someone left an old sewing machine.

Complete with original boxes of accessories….

And owners manual… with free mouse turd. Ack!

We have no idea who committed this heinous crime…. but when I find out?

They will feel my wrath.

The husband needs no help finding old worthless junk!

So please… I beg you.

Bypass our porch and take your crap to the dump next time!

(Though not the one in our town, or any neighboring towns where he’s apt to shop.)
