Woke up to this the other morning.
.

.
And I have to admit, colorful sunrises never get old.
.

.
Our one chuck is still visiting daily looking for treats.
.

.
Apples and carrots are his (her?) favorite.

There may be drawbacks to living in the country…slow internet speed, long rides to the grocery stores and lack of pizza delivery… but when you wake up to mornings like this?
.

.
The inconveniences tend to fade away.
.

.
No need to turn on the television.
.

.
Mother Nature puts on a much better show.
❤️
.
.
Nothing earth shattering here this morning….
.

.
Just a melting snow in the backyard sunrise shot.
.

.
Spring is out there.
Somewhere…
.
.
It’s finally starting to look like winter around here, albeit a few months late.
.

.
Sunrise over freshly fallen sparkling snow never gets old.
.

.
But along with overnight snow, we’re getting sunny warm days and that means icicles.
.

.
Pretty, as long as you’re not standing underneath one when it falls.
.

.
I love a snowy landscape…
.

.
There’s just something about it that makes me slow down and say, ahhh…..
.
.
There are a lot of reasons we love living in this house.
It’s in the fabulous state of Maine.
It’s in a small town in the country.
It’s surrounded by good neighbors, as well as horses, goats and chickens.
It has enough elbow room so we don’t have to see those neighbors unless we want to.
It has a steady parade of visiting wildlife.
But best of all?
We have perfect sunrises out the back windows and perfect sunsets out the front.
And when you wake up to this?
.

.
It’s hard to find fault with your world.
.

.
Good morning!
.

.
❤️
.
.
We had a small amount of the white stuff last night and crazy as it sounds, it was the first to actually stick on the ground this winter.
In celebration of that I thought I would share a few glimpses out our windows this morning…. because sunrise over snow is pretty damned spectacular.

After I posted a few of these to Facebook, I saw our farming neighbor had posted some as well. Here’s his shot, with our house and barn in the background.
.

.
Winter mornings are quite beautiful here at Casa River and while the sun rises in our back yard, a lovely pink hue is often present in the front.
.

.
Add a touch of snow fog and it’s like a fairy land.
.

.
Country living may have its drawbacks..
.

.
But the older I get, the more I appreciate the calm stillness of a quiet dawn.
.

.
Lowers my blood pressure every time.
.

.
.
I woke up to this the other day…
.

.
Which made it a very good morning indeed.
.

.
Because just when you get mired in the day to day drudgery that is life in the Covid era…
.

.
Mother Nature slaps you up side the head and says, “Snap out of it!”
.

.
There’s beauty all around us.
.

.
You just have to know where to look. (And have a big ass backyard.)
.
.
What passes for news in my town?
.

.
Oh no! The poor girl. Being roosterless is a terrible thing.
Or so I’ve heard…
A while back I made a Facebook Veterans Day post with some photos of the hubby in uniform. I found these after the fact.
.

.
In Beirut, Lebanon October 1983 with the bombed out Marine barracks in the background.
.

.
He took 12 bodies out of that building.
.

.
A horrible day.
.

.
This one was in Newport, Rhode Island (not sure of the year) He was receiving a commendation for saving a man’s life.
That’s my husband. And yes, I’m proud.
.

.
A frosty sunrise photo down by the river.
.

.
Okay, maybe you didn’t used to drink in the woods…. but I was a teenager who grew up on an Island in Maine. We drank everywhere.
.
And finally, an update.
.

.
Yay.
I love a happy ending.
.
A post of random trivial things that aren’t worthy of their own blog.
First, a sunrise photo a friend of mine took the other day.

She lives on a lake…. and I have to say that looks like a pretty sweet way to wake up.
Rocks?
Don’t mind if I do.
The Covid 19 versions someone cleverly painted.

Brilliant ideas?
Yes, they’re still out there.

See?
I found one.
These days social distancing is more important then ever….. so let’s commend those who go the extra mile.

What?
She doesn’t know where that bird has been.
