The answer is 56.

.

When my husband goes out of town for a few days? I get busy cleaning and organizing. It’s so much easier to do when my resident hoarder isn’t around saying “No… you can’t throw that out!”

First up was our utility (slash pantry slash I don’t know what to do with it so stick it in there) closet. I was merciless and got rid of a huge pile of worthless odds, ends and scraps. And buried under all that crap?

.

.

A whole lotta plastic wrap, tin foil and Ziploc baggies. When the next supply chain apocalypse arrives? We’re ready.

🤣

After that clean out I moved on to our walk in closet. This is always a nightmare because I can’t resist a bargain when it comes to clothes shopping at thrift stores. I rarely take time to try things on when I’m there because hey… when a pair of jeans costs $2 and doesn’t fit? Who cares.

.

.

Turns out our closet shelves cared because they were positively sagging under the weight.

Question- how many pairs of jeans and capris did I have to try on and sort?

Answer- 56.

.

.

Nine bags of assorted jeans, capris, blouses, sweaters, purses and shoes ready to give to charity.

There’s nothing like a good purge.

It’s good for the soul..

.

I was today years old…

.

We’ve all seen the bell ringers standing in front of stores during the holidays. They’re raising money for the Salvation Army which is one of the few charities you can trust not to spend 80% of donations on “administrative” costs.

Standing outside in Maine in December can be tough. I’ve seen bell ringers wrapped up in so many layers of clothing they look like the Michelin Man.

Hell, I’ve bought coffee and hot chocolate for those poor volunteers to keep them warm.

Because, you know… they volunteered to help.

Or did they?

.

.

Whaaaat!

Is this a new thing… or am I just woefully out of touch.

What happened to the volunteers?

🥴

.

Random ramblings.

.

Here’s a drone shot of a section of our farming neighbor’s property. It was so pretty I thought I’d share.

.

.

I’m in awe of all those perfectly aligned weeded garden beds.

.

.

In case you ever wondered what type of finish you should be using.

.

.

A local Maine man who did well for himself and ended up owning half his town’s businesses just implemented this program. Free food for school age children. Proof positive there are still good people in this world.

.

.

As you know, once we install new living room floors I’ll be shopping for new furniture. And while the husband is fine with replacing the couches, armchairs and coffee tables he started mumbling that we really didn’t need to update the dining room table and chairs we’ve had for almost 40 years.

.

.

I beg to differ.

🤣

.

.

A new medical study has revealed women who have frequent and long lasting hot flashes… read, me… are at a greater risk for heart disease and stroke. Women who have frequent night sweats… read, me… are at a greater risk for dementia.

So that’s it.

I’m doomed.

.

News you can’t use.

.

Or maybe you can. What do I know?

.

.

I’ve driven up there many times but never hiked it. Thanks for making me look like a slacker dog.

.

.

In a word, yes.

.

.

I have no words for that one.

.

.

I’d love to buy this for a Game of Thrones addict friend of mine. Too funny.

.

.

Nothing is ever really lost. It’s just always hiding in the last place you look. Check someone else’s bladder and get back to me.

.

Move it! Part three…

.

The destination for our caravan of furniture, household items and basically all the rest of my SIL’s unclaimed worldly goods was here.

.

.

The charity rummage sale at our local town hall.

.

.

We missed the regular donation hours by a mile but the kind ladies that are organizing the sale opened the building for us late in the afternoon.

.

.

After giving them 3 truck loads full of things from our cellar last week , and then these three loads… I’d say they’re going to have a very profitable sale this year.

By the time we were through carrying it all in the hall, we were literally through as well. Hot, tired and thirsty.

And you know what means.

.

.

A trip to our local pub… where we bought everyone drinks and a meal as a way to say thank you. We even talked the rummage sales ladies who don’t drink into a drink.

.

.

😉

.

You’re welcome already.

.

I can honestly say I’ve never felt so utterly appreciated for purchasing a product before this package arrived yesterday.

.

.

The box told me I was helping hungry children.

.

.

And that I was awesome.

I already knew this, but positive reinforcement never hurts.

.

.

The inner paperwork thanked me.

.

.

And told me again how awesome I was.

.

.

It went on to explain that my one little bottle of ground rosemary (because the husband refuses to eat fresh… it’s too prickly. 🙄) fed one needy child.

I hope it’s true.

I’m choosing to believe it’s true, because if it’s not… I’d have to reconsider my awesomeness, and that’s not happening.

.

.

The rosemary was quite good so I may order from them again.

But I seriously doubt it will be this…

.

.

Tofu.

Smells like sweaty feet… and tastes even worse.

🤢

.

And they say drinking doesn’t pay.

.

At the beginning of December we gave $10 to a fundraiser for our local food bank which we wouldn’t have known about it if we hadn’t been sitting in our corner at the local pub.

We drank…

.

.

And lo and behold, it paid off.

Because yesterday when we stopped in for a burger and a beer? This was placed in front of me by the bartender….

.

.

The husband joked that they didn’t need to bribe us to drink there…

.

.

But damn. For $100 gift card? I’d drink anywhere.

Apparently our donation was part of a raffle and we won a prize.

.

.

Who says drinking doesn’t pay?
