I love my town.

.

It’s time for small town news again…. so city folk can see what they’re missing.

.

.

No worries. Said piggy was reunited with his family and is safely back home.

The want ads in small rural towns tend to look a bit different.

.

.

Spleeny- New England : peevish and irritable with hypochondriac inclinations.

.

.

I’m almost afraid to ask why someone wants to rehome a skeleton.

.

.

I’m going to pass this one on to my husband because he came home from breakfast with the boys the other day bitching that his omelette had gone up a dollar.

I know I’m paying more for groceries, it stands to reason restaurants are as well.

Quilting. Keeping grandma off the streets for centuries.

.

Our town is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year and our little old ladies have been feverishly working on a quilt to commemorate the occasion.

Everyone is choosing a local landmark and some of them are quite nice.

.

.

I can barely sew a button and have been known to super glue dress hems, so I fully appreciate the work that goes into these squares.

.

.

Even if some of the landmarks look a trifle… crooked.

.

.

How cute is that!

Our general store was opened in 1904 and though it’s changed owners multiple times, and almost gone under twice…. our town rallies behind it and keeps the doors open. Small business and small towns. You can’t beat them!

Because even turkeys get cold.

Our local feed store is a delightfully quirky place.

Owned and operated by a wonderful man who shares our love of critters, I always look forward to shopping there.

Case in point….

When a turkey chick failed to sell last year because it had a deformity of it’s wing? He adopted it.

The bird is now large, spoiled silly and something of a feed store mascot.

When the temperature drops to near freezing?

She comes inside and stays by the wood stove…

Because even turkey birds get cold.

Please note there are two chickens under the table as well.

I love my town!!

Sh*t is starting to get real.

The virus.

The pandemic.

The hysteria.

I know, you’ve heard it all before… and entirely too often for your emotional well being.

But now?

It’s hitting home for your favorite chicken and rock loving friend.

Our beloved local pub… that we support on a weekly basis… has shut it’s doors.

So please, for me –

And all those margaritas that anxiously await my return?
