My respect for Aussie laissez faire grows…

.

Australians are the kings and queens of chill.

.

.

.

A weekend trip to Christmas Island went off the rails as soon as the family started cooking dinner.

.

.

Coconut crabs don’t rate the nickname “robber crabs” for nothing.

.

.

Crabs were climbing up chairs and table legs trying to steal a bite to eat… but did the Aussie family flip out and run for their boat?

No.

.

.

They popped the tops on a few and calmly batted the crabs off their plates.

🤣

.

Stone garden border project… day 7.

.

I’m happy to report it was a dull and uneventful day of stone installation.

.

.

Probably because I stayed in the house. Oh, I was out there bright and early ready to work, but my help was neither needed nor desired.. so I left him to it.

.

.

The border looks great, though it really is a lot smaller than I wanted.

.

.

The perennial bed I had envisioned will have to be dramatically downsized.

.

.

But something is better than nothing and he certainly is doing a good job.

.

For the love of all that’s holy… no.

.

What the Hell Texas!

.

.

Loyal readers know I dislike dolls. Those dead eyed, soul stealing little human replicants have haunted my dreams for decades. So when I read about the abominations washing up on shore in Texas?

.

.

I cringed.

.

.

Figuratively and literally.

.

.

The thought of casually strolling down the beach and bumping my toe into that makes me want to scream.

.

.

Thirty.

.

.

Of those…. things.

😱

.

.

Thank you John. You’re doing the world a great service.

.

.

Burn them.

Burn them all…..

.

.

News you can’t use.

.

Because I live to inform.

.

.

Clearly my ancestral people are not feeding their foxes as well as I do.

.

.

Here’s what she found – the fact that she has entirely too much time on her hands.

.

.

Not exactly what I’d call all natural.

.

.

I hope no one out there is using this poison. It’s a certified cancer causing agent and is some how still being sold in the United States. That fact that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was a Monsanto lawyer may have something to do with this.

.

Stone garden border project… day 5 and 6.

.

After calling the stone yard every day for a week to see if they were back open, we finally caught a break and drove over to pick out the second pallet of rocks.

.

.

Naturally he wanted the one in the back, buried under another pallet, and red flagged it accordingly.

.

.

After the over loaded truck fiasco with the first batch, I’d managed to talk the husband into having this one delivered and breathed a sigh of relief he wouldn’t need to replace a vehicle….

.

.

Until I came home from the grocery store the next morning to find he went and picked them up himself anyway because delivery would be two weeks out. Patience? They name is not my husband’s.

He unloaded half of the first batch of rock in the middle of the garden bed and half around the edges, which made no sense to me as the ones on the edges would need to be moved again during construction… but whatever. I think we’ve established he does things his way, right or wrong.

.

.

The first batch he brought home was scattered on the truck bed, the second sat right on the axle. Say what you want about old Fords… this baby is hauling twice what’s she rated for.

.

.

So. The second pallet is here and ready to be deployed.

.

.

Even though the stones are considerably larger this time around.

.

Miscellaneous drivel.

.

As you know, our cat Lord Dudley Mountcatten is spoiled. He is not however, ill mannered.. and never tries to jump on the dining room table during meals. But for those of you who have misbehaving felines? I offer a solution:

.

.

You’re welcome.

.

.

What do you do when a friend recommends a fabulous blueberry vodka but you have no space on your man cave bar shelves?

.

.

You pack them a little tighter and hope the shelves are up for the extra weight.

.

.

We seem to be down to three baby woodchucks from seven. I prefer to think this is a result of momma chuck kicking a few of the kids out of the den and not the result of predation. But this little guy?

He’s still trying to move in with us.

🙂
