Pandemic humor.

The crisis is slowly winding down and Covid humor is harder to find, but here are the latest.

Sometimes it really is better to bee safe than sorry. ( Feel free to groan. I couldn’t help myself. )

No doubt!

You can’t argue with that logic.

While technically these aren’t virus related jokes, if you’ve done any home improvements in the past year you know the price of lumber and supplies has skyrocketed.

We were in Lowes the other day ordering shingles for our long overdo roof repair, and trust me… this isn’t far off the mark.

And finally…

You never know what part of the house cats will gravitate toward. We’ve had desk felines..

Bed felines….

Chair felines….

Even motorcycle felines.

And now it looks like our newest addition has chosen my mother’s old bookcase.

Yes, Lord Dudley Mountcatten has laid claim to this spot in our bedroom window.

From it he can recline in the warmth of the sun….

And hover over the birds who seek shelter in the bushes directly underneath.

I think I’m going to have to remove that planter. It seems to be migrating closer to the edge everyday.

Meanwhile back at the ranch…

While all the frenzied work in the barn has been consuming my husband’s mind and time?

This was happening inside our house.

Yet another roof leak.

We have walked the roof.

We have climbed into the attic.

We have replaced our chimney insert.

We have tarred, caulked, shingled, flashed and yes, swore repeatedly…. but still can’t figure out where it’s coming in.

Back in ’94 before we owned the home, a bump out addition was added to the living room…

And what I’m assuming is a load bearing beam… is where the rain always breaks through.

It’s beyond aggravating.

Not to mention ugly.

So back in the attic crawl space we went. Of course this means all the husband’s junk must be vomited from the den closet first.

And there’s a lot of junk.

Anyone need some slightly dated reading material?

This time the attic investigation revealed two possible spots on the roof where water could be getting in. Husband is guessing 3 squares of shingles will have to be replaced. But winter is upon us, and it’s not going to be a pleasant task.

Still trying to chew her way back into our house.

Taunting me.

We’ve sealed up every entry point we can find.

But she keeps looking.

Did I laugh when she scrambled on top of the gutter, slipped and fell in the downspout?

Real time at Casa River.

So this is my life.

I elevate, ice, read, and groan every time I have to move. Not how I envisioned spending my favorite time of year.

The foliage is peak, the temperatures are blissfully cool and I’m stranded on the couch like a beached Beluga.

There are very few good things to report when you’ve torn your meniscus and damaged your MCL, but one must take solace where one can.

My husband feeling guilty for his mobility and finally installing the new blinds in the office? The ones that have been sitting next to his desk for the last 3 months?

My husband breaking the special order extra wide curtain rod for my Waverly valance after I told him to be careful because they’re tricky to take down? Because he has no patience for anything the least bit domestic and never thinks I know what I’m talking about? Because he was cursing a blue streak as he tried to tape it back together?

Solace for a couch bound ~~whale~~ wife.
