I still haven’t forgiven him.

.

54 years ago this week my husband drove to upstate New York for a concert.

But not just any concert, no.

.

.

He went to the greatest single musical event in rock and roll history. And since my husband is my husband, he took a look around, breathed in the heavily herbed air, didn’t like what he saw… and left.

Woodstock.

My husband went to Woodstock… and left.

.

.

He didn’t see the Dead, Santana, or CSN.

He didn’t see Hendrix or Joplin or CCR.

I still can’t wrap my mind around it. And I swear if I had known this before we married it might have been a deal breaker.

🥴

Miscellaneous snippets.

.

A little bit of this and a whole lot of nothing.

.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten … taking a break from strolling to survey his domain.

.

.

You either get it or you don’t.

My husband went to the original Woodstock, then turned around and left… saying it wasn’t his scene.

Clearly he didn’t get it.

.

.

Book banning?

Huge pet peeve.

.

.

Funny how that works.

.

.

King Eider’s is a fun pub on the coast.

Their sign is always equally as fun.

.

The treasure, or useless crap depending on your point of view.

.

After a verrrrry long day at the antique mall from Hell my husband came home with relatively little in the way of treasure.

I was all for buying an antique wall phone to hang in the man cave and a vintage steamer trunk to use as a coffee table, but no. He wanted none of that.

His final purchases?

.

.

An old wooden egg crate. Do we have egg laying chickens? No.

Moving on…

.

.

The seven pieces of ephemera it took him two and a half hours to find.

.

.

Did we need this classically decorated snake oil salesman’s card that claims to cure cholera?

.

.

I think not, but we own it anyway.

Since my barn phone and steamer trunk were vetoed, I only came home with a handful of vinyl.

.

.

Though one of my selections has a specific purpose.

.

.

My husband went to Woodstock. The largest, greatest rock and roll event in history… he was there on day one.

For about half an hour. He walked around, didn’t like what he saw, and left. (If I had known this before we got married, it would have been a deal breaker.)

So because he turned his back on that once in a lifetime experience …. and kept me in that often cold and dark chicken barn antique mall all damned day…. I bought the original Woodstock album and will force him to listen to it. Over and over again, while I slaughter him in Scrabble.

It only seems fair.

.

Mountains, foliage and a little food.

.

When you exit the Kancamagus Highway…

.

.

You find yourself in the town of Woodstock, and when you’re in Woodstock?

.

.

You have to visit the Woodstock Inn and Brewery.

.

.

Of course if you visit this time of year.. you can expect to search endlessly for a parking spot, be unable to sit outside due to the high crowd volume, and find that the only indoor space available are two stools at the end of the bar.

.

.

The brewery is a funky place, filled with all kinds interesting eye candy.

.

.

But it was extremely crowded as well as extremely loud, so we decided to have a drink and an appetizer and be on our way.

.

.

Pomegranate margarita and some fabulous duck wontons with sweet Thai chili sauce for me.

.

.

And a French onion soup so loaded with cheese for the husband I thought he’d never get through it.

.

.

After our snack we headed to Franconia Notch…

.

.

Where the fall color was a bit past peak but still impressive.

.

.

Trees.

.

.

Fall leaves.

.

.

And mountains.

No narrative required.

It’s that time again…

I hadn’t checked my spam folder in a while and boy, was it bursting.

Let’s take a look.

We’re a group of volunteers and starting a new scheme in our community. Your website offered us with valuable info to work on. You’ve done a formidable job and our entire community will be thankful to you.

This was interesting since it was posted on my blog about Woodstock. If the new scheme of their community is peace, love and drugs?

They’re a little late.

Right here is the right site for anyone who wants to find out about this topic. You understand a whole lot its almost tough to argue with you (not that I actually would want to…HaHa). You definitely put a new spin on a subject which has been written about for many years. Great stuff, just wonderful!

This was on my post about baby woodchucks.

And while I appreciate the compliment, I wasn’t aware the subject had been written on that extensively.

I like this site, it’s a master peace !

Clearly this spammer enjoyed my post about the Red Rocks of Sedona, and who could blame him? Shame he doesn’t know how to spell…

I am glad for writing to make you understand of the incredible experience my wife’s princess experienced browsing your web page. She even learned so many things, which included how it is like to have an incredible teaching spirit to have the mediocre ones completely know just exactly a number of advanced topics. You truly did more than people’s desires. Thank you for producing the priceless, dependable, revealing and even fun guidance on the topic to Janet.

Janet is quite welcome. I constantly strive to do more than people’s desires with my advanced topics and am thrilled to be recognized. Please give the princess my regards.

I imagine she looks something like this:

Hello there! This article couldn’t be written much better!
Reading through this article reminds me of my previous roommate!
He constantly kept preaching about this. I will send this
article to him. Fairly certain he’s going to have a great read.
Many thanks for sharing!

One has to wonder who this spammer’s previous roommate was and why he constantly preached about the Suc It product I blogged about.

Best or worse? You decide…

And finally there’s this one, which was a little too spot on… even for me.

It was posted on my previous blog about spam:  Monty Python and Spam….

Thanks for sharing such an awesome information with us.

Pythons for Monty Python.

Well….

They were close.

Woodstock revisited.

Peace, love…. and no thanks.

It’s been a long running joke in our marriage that my husband went to Woodstock ….

(Yes, the original. And yes, he’s that old)

Took a look around, and left.

Left!

Left the greatest live musical event in history!

I know, that was my reaction too.

The joke is,  had I known this disturbing piece of information before we got married… it would have been a deal breaker.

In August of 1969, when the counter culture was doing this?

And listening to this?

00_Crosby-Stills-Nash-and-Young-at-Woodstock-1969

I was…

Yeah. Walking the dog with some sassy red kicks.

Needless to say, I was too young to attend.

So years later, when I heard my beloved other half say Woodstock  “wasn’t his scene”, and that he had hitch hiked to New York that August, joined the throngs of hippies walking to the concert, “saw a bunch of half naked people dancing and smoking dope” and decided to leave?

A little piece of me died.

I would have killed to be there. Rain, mud et al.

In my  hippie days of the late 70’s, the closest I got was following the Dead around New England… or going to the Claremont Music Festival in New Hampshire. We camped out, we smoked weed, it rained… but it still wasn’t Woodstock.

And now, in August 2019 on the 50th anniversary? There’s another Woodstock brewing.

I was thrilled!

The husband even agreed to go!

(Probably just to shut me up about the first one, but who cares!)

And then I saw the list of performers.

woodstock

And while a few of the original artists will be there…. Santana, Fogerty from CCR, Country Joe McDonald and David Crosby  (no, I’m not counting Dead and Company with John Mayer. Please! Without Jerry, they’re not the Dead)…. scanning the list made me want to cry.

Soccer Mommy? Pussy Riot? Amigo the Devil?

Damn. I must be old, because I don’t know half of these groups. And while I love the Black Keys, Dawes, The Lumineers, and a handful of others? My need for more classic rock, folk or blues from back in the day makes me think to hell with it. You can’t go home again.

And apparently you can’t go back to Max Yasgur’s farm either because the event is being held 150 miles away in Watkins Glen.

At the race track.

With a limited amount of tickets because they’re worried about traffic jams.

Traffic jams?

Good god.

There’s even an app.

Peace, love and music?

I doubt it. The Millennials have taken over and it will probably be merchandised to within an inch of it’s life and have more to do with profit than peace and brotherhood.

Sigh…

Sorry husband. It looks like you’re still going to have to take my crap about leaving the first one.

And rightfully so.
