I feel like my food is just phoning it in.

.

After reading an article about a fine arts student in Montreal who made clothing out of food?

.

.

I realized the contents of my refrigerator have to step up their game.

.

.

Damn it cabbage, get up off your ass.

.

.

And to think I’ve been wasting my broccoli in casseroles.

.

.

A potato chip shirt? Sure it’s all innocent fun… until someone opens the dip.

.

.

I don’t know about you, but an orange isn’t going to cut it for me. My girls would need cantaloupes.

.

The eagle has landed.

.

Our neighbor, she of the new stained glass hobby, invited us down to her house to take a look at her work. Not being one to arrive empty handed I brought this….

.

.

A bottle of wine from one of our trips. I planned to ply her with alcohol and drive the price of the eagle I had my eye on down.

.

.

The picture she’d sent me made the piece look quite large… and though in reality it wasn’t, it still turned out to be a nice addition to the man cave.

.

.

On the table with my husband’s challenge coin collection.

.

.

Below the WWII propaganda posters.

.

.

Proudly guarding our bar. (And yes, I got the 20% friends and family discount.)

.

Neighbors be crafty.

.

It started innocently enough with me texting our neighbor this picture.

.

.

She’s a retired psychiatrist who’s taken up stained glass as a hobby. While I appreciate the work that goes into such things, I’ve never been a fan of those run of the mill sun catchers… and the few pieces of her work that I’d seen left a lot to be desired.

.

.

So when I saw that fun pot of glass agave leaves, I passed it along because she’s always looking for ideas. Next thing I knew she was texting me pictures of some of her latest projects…

.

.

And I have to say….

.

.

Her work has come a long way. (That frog!❣️)

.

.

I was so impressed with this owl I offered to buy it, but sadly she had already given him away. But then she sent me this…

.

.

And the husband fell in love, immediately pondering its placement the man cave. While I’m thinking this eagle might be a little large, our neighbor now wants us to visit her studio and browse. She even offered us a custom made piece. How great is that!

.

Cats rule.

.

I think we can all agree if you invite a cat into your home and heart, they quickly turn your house into their kingdom and rule with an iron fist. While all cat owners know this, there’s now an artist who’s showing us world domination isn’t far behind.

.

.

*Gulp*

.

.

Catzilla?

.

.

He’ll make mincemeat out of those puny Power Rangers! And then perhaps, a pie.

.

To be viewed while humming the old Vanity Fare song ‘Hitchin’ A Ride’.

.

This next photo explains a lot.

.

.

Part 2 to follow..

.

When librarians get bored.

.

I saw this online the other day and it was too fun not to share.

.

.

Librarians in France having fun during the pandemic.

.

.

I’m always amused at this type of thing.

.

.

But no matter how many times I try to recreate something similar it never works.

.

.

Some of these are clever.

.

.

Some, disturbing.

.

.

But they all made me smile.

.

.

And marvel at how close they were able to match the book covers.

.

.

Dali would be proud.

.

.

Art I most definitely do not need.

.

One little picture of Dudley on Facebook. That’s all it took for the Catopia algorithm to switch into high gear. And today? Unfortunately it’s bathroom themed.

.

.

Yikes.

.

.

Not anymore, no. Although thanks to Covid and an injured knee…. there is a whole lot more of it.

.

.

Wow.

.

.

I’d say this poster is a little cheeky, but that’s a tad too on point.

.

.

If Dudley wanders in and hands me the toilet paper? I’m totally ditching Facebook.

.

Still in love!

.

Yeah, yeah… still the husband. Soul mate, best friend, whatever.

.

.

But today I’m talking about critters.

.

.

Whimsical…

.

.

Magical….

.

.

Absolutely adorable….

.

.

Little critters.

.

.

Yes, even the pesky red squirrel.

.

.

And the mice that make their winter nests in our garage.

.

.

The fact that these creatures are ephemeral and disappear with the first gust of wind just makes it bittersweet.

.

.

I’m in love!

.

With my husband, yes… of course.

But also with these:

.

.

Gorgeous little masterpieces made with leaves, twigs, blooms and berries.

.

.

Called land art…

.

.

Because as soon as the wind blows?

.

.

They’re gone.

Each of Bullen-Ryner’s pieces comprises locally sourced and foraged materials. Nothing is glued or tethered, which means her work might only last a few minutes before parts begin to fly away with the breeze. So, why does she choose to work this way? “People often ask me why don’t I make something more permanent or they say it’s such a shame that it’s temporary,” Buller-Ryner shares. “But for me, it is the ephemeral nature of what I do that has become like therapy for my soul. I get to put down all my anxieties, my fears, all the chaos from my brain and turn it into something beautiful to honor Mother Nature. I take some photos and then walk or cycle away, leaving it all behind and feeling calmer, more connected, and truly lighter.

.

Such beautiful little treasures.

.

.

Yes.

.

.

I’m definitely in love.

.

.

Admit it….

.

.

You are too!

.

I still love my town, but…

.

.

Remember Mr. H?

.

.

The charismatic donkey that was built as a parade float but had recently been traveling around our town?

The one a local artist spent two years designing and building?

.

.

Mr. H was well loved in our small rural community and people looked forward to seeing him cruising from place to place. Homeowners could request a Mr. H visit and he would happily park on your lawn for photo ops and climb aboards.

And then?

This:

.

.

An event that’s shocked our close knit little town.

.

.

The following is a statement from our town’s state representative –

.

.

.

The artist donated this cat sculpture to our local elementary school and he happily greets children every morning as they start their day.

.

.

I wish I’d known about the little memorial gathering. I would have attended and mourned his loss.

.

.

As well as the loss of civility and common decency we’re currently experiencing in this country.

.

.

Rest In Peace Mr. H.

I’m hoping everything you and the flag you stood for isn’t dead as well.
