More chucker pics….

Because I can.

IMG_1746

I’m seriously in love with this little critter.

IMG_1748

I know most people see them as pests and hate them.

IMG_1752

But other than a few holes here and there….

IMG_1757

This one’s never done any harm.

IMG_1754

And a cuter garbage disposal for leftover salad scraps you’re not apt to find.

IMG_1758

Last year we had a momma woodchuck and 4 babies.

IMG_1750

This year…. only one.

IMG_1753

I’ve yet to determine if it’s momma or one of her kids.

Crazy like a…..

You knew where this was headed.

IMG_1734

Our beautiful pair of foxes from last year are back.

IMG_1710

Which means I’m laying in a steady supply of grain free vitamin filled dry dog food with taurine.

IMG_1733

Along with fresh strawberries and blueberries.

IMG_1709

Why?

Because a veterinarian friend told me that’s the best thing to feed them.

And because this:

Is only available for sale in England.

Have you ever watched a deer go apple picking?

Well now you can.

We had a lot of visitors this past winter.

IMG_2563

These are pictures from back in January because I’m still playing catch up from the vacation posts.

IMG_2566

Our buck kept his rack a lot longer than usual.

IMG_2581

But it didn’t stop him from apple picking.

Or sticking his tongue out at the photographer.

IMG_2571

Cheeky little bugger.

IMG_2564

Father and son…

IMG_2572

Or daughter, it’s hard to tell at this stage.

The herd.

Crazy weather this winter left the wildlife a little shell shocked.

Snow, rain, ice, warm temperatures, then more snow and ice. They didn’t know what the hell was going on.

We had skunks in January and fox in February.

And deer?

IMG_2846

Yes dear, we had deer.

IMG_2856

Veritable herds of deer.

IMG_2850

Who we love to watch.

I mean really….

How can you not?

Such beautiful creatures.

IMG_2857

They almost make the slow internet speed we have to suffer in the country worthwhile.

Because everyone needs a drink.

Bird baths.

They’re not just for birds anymore….

IMG_1452

These little guys never used to drink here until an apple tree sprouted in my garden bed a few years ago.

IMG_1450

Now they’ve realized they can safely climb onto an overhanging branch and jump in.

Like I do…

Actual photo of me last Saturday night.

Pardon the quality of these shots, but it was dark and I was shooting through a window.

IMG_E6198

I’ve often wondered why the deer don’t stop to slake their thirst.

IMG_E6197

Now, I have proof that they do.

Random Bambi ….

If you haven’t guessed by now, I take a lot of pictures.

My life may not be fascinating…

But it’s damn sure well documented.

And what’s a blog for if not sharing random baby deer photos from earlier this summer?

IMG_1107

Not much to comment on.

IMG_1264

Just enjoy the sweetness…

IMG_1282

While I organize my photo files.

IMG_1118

And if you’re not into cute furry 4 legged babies?

IMG_1186

Then tune in again next time…

IMG_1106

When I’m sure to have more meaningless drivel.

IMG_1120

Time to fess up….

Which one of you boneheads is peeing in my birdbath every night?

Because this is getting old.

Every afternoon I clean out the birdbath.

IMG_5886

Filling it with sparkling clean, cool water for our birds to drink and take a bath.

And then every morning I wake up to this:

IMG_5885

Every single morning.

So…

Fun’s over. Admit your crime.

The midnight madness must stop.

Babies!

First there were woodchuck babies, then catbird babies (although that didn’t end well) , a quick glimpse of a fox baby, and fawns! Finally… fawns.

But now?

We have skunk babies!!

Simply too much cuteness.

Adorable little critters!

I wasn’t able to film or photograph the funniest part because it was too dark, and that’s a shame because the husband and I had tears in our eyes from laughing so hard.

Our deer came up to feed and those three little fellas chased her all over the yard. In a line… one, two, three… like a little skunk locomotive.

For 20 straight minutes they wouldn’t let her near the food, no matter how she tried.

To heck with guard dogs.

Get a skunk.
