On our way home from our scenic drive the other day we stopped for a cocktail ( or two ).

Repeat after me… martinis are not made with rum. Nope. Uh uh. Never. Cherry Gin Ricky it is.

Nice flavor, but a little too sweet so I asked the bartender to dial back the grenadine on #2. Bartenders are wonderful people, so helpful and attentive to our needs.

.

.

Cocktails with my husband always requires food, so he ordered mussels while I opted for Truffle fries. Both were yummy but the real news? Even after I declined ketchup, 3 packets made their way to our table.

.

.

Oh, the extravagance! After the waitress said she couldn’t take them back due to Covid rules… and when my husband remembered there was a shortage causing people to list them on eBay for $15 per… he scooped them up and brought them home. Where they’ll languish in the drawer until the next global pandemic lockdown.

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know I love cheese. And soft ripened French cheese? Ooh la la!

But Camembert cheese potato chips? Be still my artery clogged heart!

If not for the fact that these are probably laden with chemicals and enough sugar to sweeten a lemon grove…. they might be fun.

Wow. This has got to win the ugliest lamp ever award.

And disappointingly, just when I was thinking of ordering one as a gag gift…. I read a bunch of comments saying it was fake.

I love steampunk, but judging from the price on their website I’m guessing they’re right.

Ah, Keith… he’ll outlive us all. When the earth is experiencing the utter destruction of nuclear winter? Two things will survive… cockroaches and Keith Richards.

Here’s Larry, Curly and Moe. The three wild turkeys that my oh so stubborn husband chases off our property at least 4 times every morning. It’s comical to watch my other half flying across the back yard in his pajamas and slippers, waving his arms like Robbie the Robot, hollering at them to scat…. while the Stooges run to the edge of the property line and patiently wait for him to go back inside.

100,000 people have had nothing better to do with their lives for the past 2 years than read my drivel filled posts. If that isn’t cause for celebration? I don’t know what is.

This small bottle of supposedly outstanding margarita mix a friend gave me was funny for one reason only.

10 cocktails? From that mini container! Clearly they’ve never bellied up to our bar.

Today is Mother’s Day and Lord Dudley Mountcatten marked the occasion by doing absolutely nothing. He didn’t hack me up a hairball, he didn’t push his food bowl my way… he didn’t even drop a dead mouse at my feet. What a slacker!

I mean really, would it have killed him to order me a box of cocktail chocolates?

No, it would not. The lazy sod sleeps on the keyboard for heaven’s sake… and don’t tell me he doesn’t have thumbs. Those paws are more dexterous than you think.

(Don’t laugh, kitty mothers count.) Come on Dudley… River needs a chocolate covered margarita.

I like flipping through magazines and finding cocktail recipes.

Mmm…. this sounds refreshing. Needless to say I shall be adjusting the required alcohol amounts. 3 tbsps of gin? Bitch, please.

I like finding a decent cat food Lord Dudley Mountcatten will actually eat.

If you’ve never tried Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning products you really should. Their scents are marvelous. Basil, geranium, honeysuckle, bluebell and the latest… fresh mown grass. Ooh la la! If it wasn’t so soapy I swear I’d use it as perfume.

And finally, I like Dudley’s laissez faire attitude when it comes to dining. If the human puts your dinner in front of you when you’re lying down? Why bother getting up….

A spring resurgence.

This time of year brings the return of warmer temperatures, green grass and two of my favorite things.

They’re baaaaack!

Well, at least one of them is. Our first returning woodchuck has made an appearance in the back yard. Let the games begin.

And speaking of games….

Red Sox baseball is back and available for viewing in the newly used to be a barn filled with crap remodeled man cave.

.

.

Yes, watching my favorite team at my beloved Fenway Park while perched at our private bar sipping a cocktail is the very definition of sweet.

.

.

The first few games? Not so much. Pitching will be a problem this year and getting swept by the Orioles on our home turf was depressing to say the least. But we whooped Florida and swept Baltimore in their home park. Life is good.

The husband and I discovered it a few years ago and were instantly hooked.

It’s a lovely place where they grow herbs and wildflowers…

.

.

And has a fabulous tasting room, cafe, bakery and apothecary type gift shop.

.

.

But what I really go there for?

.

The infused gin. Like this bottle of plum the husband brought back for me when he was in the area last week.

.

.

It’s fabulous…. though not exactly cheap.

.

.

While I usually have it with just tonic, yesterday I was in the mood for a proper Tom Collins. The plum turned it pink… and I admit I was tickled the very same color.

Did anyone know the Keurig coffee company will now mix you a cocktail?

Yes, there is an alcoholic pod machine.

.

.

And while in theory it seems like a good idea ..

.

.

For $300 I think I’ll continue to mix my own.

.

.

The machine requires a CO2 canister for carbonation.

.

.

And they don’t exactly give away the pods either.

.

.

Maybe someday when I’m old and grey (okay, older and greyer) I’ll need mechanic cocktail help, but I’m not there yet.
