Random musings…

.

Telemarketers have gotten clever over the past few years. They spoof actual businesses and use real people’s names with local numbers to trick you into answering.

Last month our caller ID came up with my own name and number. Though why I needed to call myself has yet to be determined.

Last week?

This:

.

.

It’s like they’re not even trying anymore.

.

.

Covid warnings, Maine style.

.

.

Deer and fading backyard foliage, just because.

.

.

Damn.

I knew I shouldn’t have let my National Geographic subscription expire. Slutty ostriches would have been a good read.

.

.

Deep fried pickled asparagus is not my idea of an acceptable appetizer, but they’re very popular at our local pub right now.

.

.

This describes our current weather quite well. Something for everyone.

And finally, fluffle.

.

.

Because we all need a tad more cuteness in our life right about now.

.

I’m ready to cry Uncle.

.

First it was not at all temporary temporary doors. Then insulation and a ceiling and new light fixtures and floor moulding and quarter round.

Now?

.

.

The husband is installing strapping to cover the plywood ceiling seams.

.

.

Technically this is finish work. And we all know that is not where his talents lie.

.

.

Was the strapping straight?

.

.

Not so much.

.

.

Of course when I helpfully pointed that out, I got booted from the barn/man cave/Maine Taj Mahal.

.

.

When I went back 2 hours later? He informed me the strapping wasn’t right and needed to be redone.

.

.

Hmm. Why didn’t I think of that?

.

.

Cutting and more cutting.

.

.

Cutting around the light fixtures I tried to tell him to center 2 weeks ago.

.

.

But all the cutting resulted in straighter lines.

.

.

Aggravating? No doubt.

But…

.

.

We did have gorgeous fall foliage in the background so I’ll call it a win.

.

Natural beauty.

.

Have you ever noticed how quickly sunsets change?

.

IMG_3188

.

I see a pretty one out the window…

.

IMG_3189

.

And by the time I grab my camera it’s almost over. Rather like life….

.

IMG_3190

.

Fall came early this year.

.

IMG_3301

.

And while I do love the colors, peak foliage came too soon.

.

IMG_3302

.

What was supposed to pop in October, popped in September.

.

.

And as much as I’m ready for this year to be over, this is one part I wish would last a little longer.

.

A dear-able.

.

The late season Bambi is back and not looking quite so evil this time.

.

.

Eat up little one, winter is coming and you’ve got a lot of pounds to pack on before the white stuff falls.

.

.

The big buck was here as well.

.

.

As was his son from last year whose felt is starting to shed.

.

.

Hard to believe we still have a spotted fawn this late in the year. Makes me worry.

.

.

Fall is here and with such a terribly dry summer the pickings aren’t good.

.

.

The rut will be here shortly.

.

.

And this guy will be very busy.

.

Risking life and limb for my blog.

.

Never let it be said I don’t put myself in harm’s way for my loyal readers.

.

.

Yes, I drove home from the store one handed the other day just so I could share a few shots of our beautiful fall foliage in Maine.

.

.

We had a very hot dry summer…

.

.

So the leaves aren’t as vibrant as they could be.

.

.

But it’s still a pretty sweet show.

.

.

Minus the spots and streaks on my dirty windshield that is.

.

.

No small animals were killed while I swerved left for that burning bush…

.

.

And swerved right for that perfect sugar maple.

.

.

Good thing we don’t get much traffic on our road.

.

.

Or police cruisers.

.

.

Ah, autumn in New England.

.

.

If you’ve never experienced it….

.

.

What are you waiting for?

.

.

Deer me.

.

He surely is a handsome devil.

.

IMG_3043

.

Strutting out of the woods with his son.

.

IMG_3041

.

Always wary of the neighbor’s dogs.

.

IMG_3045

.

And the crazy lady with the camera.

.

IMG_3047

.

The time of year I worry about him is almost upon us.

.

IMG_3049

.

And as much as autumn is my favorite season….

.

IMG_3054

.

It brings with it rifles and bullets and trophy hunters.

.

IMG_3056

.

And I’ll fear for our beautiful visitors.

This and that.

IMG_6539

Sunset from our front porch…

IMG_6548

It never gets old.

IMG_E6202

If you haven’t read the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale….

IMG_E6233

It does answer a lot of questions, though I can’t say I was in love with the ending.

IMG_E6318

If anyone can explain this exhaust system?

Please do… because I’m a bit baffled.

IMG_E6538

Yay for fall and all it’s ( don’t push winter it will be here soon enough) vodka flavors.

I see Mules in my future.

No, not that kind.

Although mine will probably have a kick as well.

I love my town… Part 5.

It’s time to take a look at the riveting happenings posted on my town’s FB page again.

IMG_E6342

There are the usual missing critter reports.

IMG_E6355

Though pigs have taken a back seat to birds this week.

IMG_E6413

Snakes are actively being sought.

As are nuts.

IMG_E6414

*Note to male readers – I do not support the crushing of nuts between your legs. No letters, please.*

Artful pumpkins are being carved…

IMG_E6430

And grapes are plentiful.

IMG_E6448

IMG_E6417

Syrup is available.

4JXyORu

As are extremely round sheep.

IMG_E6415

Then there’s the woman who wants everyone to watch a program about garbage.

IMG_E6426

Garbage…

You’re doing it wrong.
